Abstract:

Szpital Świętego Ducha był głównym szpitalem-przytułkiem Sandomierza w średniowieczu i w XVI w. Zakonnicy prowadzili go zgodnie z zakonnymi konstytucjami, chociaż nie zawsze rzetelnie wypełniali obowiązki względem podopiecznych. Duchakom pomagali świeccy prowizorzy wyznaczani przez radę miejską. Wspólnie z zakonnikami dysponowali i rozdzielali dochody z pokaźnego majątku ziemskiego, nieruchomości w Sandomierzu oraz licznych legatów testamentowych i różnego rodzaju donacji ofiarowanych zarówno przez mieszczan, jak i przedstawicieli duchowieństwa czy szlachty.
The Holy Spirit Hospital was the main hospital-orphanage in Sandomierz in the Middle Ages and in the 16th century. The monks ran it based on the monastic constitutions, although they did not always reliably fulfill their duties towards their charges. The spiritualists were helped by lay makers appointed by the city council. Together with the monks, they disposed of and distributed the income from substantial land property, real estate in Sandomierz, and numerous testamentary legates and various donations made both by townspeople and representatives of the clergy and nobility.
