Abstract:

Language is one of the crucial components of national identity. The policy of the Soviet re-gime led to an imbalance in the functioning of the state and national languages in the union republics, which in turn caused difficulties in ethnocultural identity. Against the background of large-scale geopolitical changes in the twentieth century, such as the collapse of the USSR and the formation of independent national republics, there was a crisis of national identity among the representatives of the Russian diaspora. This study raises the issue of the relationship between language and identity, as well as the preservation of the ethnocultural identity of Russians living in the former Soviet republics in the context of globalization processes.
