The myth of Tannhäuser, the legendary minnesinger of the 13th century, stands out among the most significant mythological motives of European art. His image received many interpretations by authors of different eras and nationalities and reflected trends in art, morality and religion over the centuries. The reception of Tannhäuser myth in the Russian and German poetry of Yuri Klen not only absorbed the current trends in reading this myth in the literature of modernism, but also demonstrated the individuality of the author’s approach. The article deals with the peculiarities of Yuri Klen’s interpretation of Tannhäuser mythologeme, the specificity of the evolution of the image and the originality of the poet’s interpretation of the myth in the context of European art.
