Abstract:

The study analyzes the role and significance of ethics in the value system of managers, particularly in the context of their daily professional decisions and functioning within the work environment. This article focuses on explaining issues related to the existence of ethical codes in the companies of the surveyed managers, the reasons for violating ethical principles, the values that guide the respondents in their lives, and how these values translate into their functioning in the workplace.
A survey was conducted among 46 senior managers from the Pomeranian and Warmian- -Masurian voivodeships. Over half of the surveyed managers work in companies with an ethical code. Key factors influencing ethical behavior include personal values, upbringing, and concern for their image. The most commonly cited reasons for violating ethical principles include the desire for quick profit, the habituation of people to unethical behavior, the lack of positive role models, and the lack of societal opposition.
The results suggest that the individual value system plays a key role in the ethical attitudes of managers, although the absence of universal codes leads to relativism in the approach to ethical principles. Managers focus on personal values, such as freedom and inner harmony, which can influence their professional relationships.
