This also happened in 2018 in connection with the 100th anniversary of this Catholic university. A letter from fr. Idzi Radziszewski, the first rector of the Catholic University of Lublin, adressed to Augustyn Łosiński, the bishop of the diocese of Kielce, was found in the Kielce’s diocesan archive. In the letter, adressed to the bishop Łosiński, the first rector of the Catholic University of Lublin submitted among other the report concerning the actions that he took to establish the university from 27 July to 7 October 1918. The purpose of the publication of the present letter is to show less emphasised circumstances of establishing this catholic university. From the letter we find out about the formal procedures which occured during establishment of the Catholic University of Lublin. The knowledge of multiple actions taken by Fr. Idzi Radziszewski, and the support that was provided by wide range of his fellows is very valuable. There’s no doubt that by establishment of the university, Fr. Radiszewski was fulfilling the necessity of the polish society. We can see the enthusiasm connected to the rebirth of Poland. That enthusiasm also led to the support of the already mentioned idea of establishing the university. Independent Poland, the free nation, wanted to be cultivated by the catholic values, which helped in surviving the dark times of annexations. We learn from the letter about the spirit of the unity of the polish people, who were ready to dedicate their lives for the independence of Poland. The first part of the article introduces Fr. Idzi Radziszewski, the author of the letter. The author focuses mostly on the stages of his life and events that had an impact on his spiritual and intellectual formation. He brings mainly those aspects of his life, that had direct impact on his decisions concerning the establishment of the catholic university. The second part of the paper concerns the description of the letter and very detailed presentation of its content."]
