Search for: [Abstract = "Pigmentation disorders of the skin are quite common dermatological and cosmetic problems related to decreased \(hypopigmentation\) or increased \(hyperpigmentation\) levels of pigment in the skin. Explanation and understanding of the basis of skin pigmentation and the complex processes of melanogenesis influencing the formation of skin pigmentation disorders facilitates the selection of effective methods of treatment, but also enables the search for new substances regulating the skin color processes and initiates the development of potential therapeutic strategies. Appropriate treatment is required to obtain satisfactory results, especially the aesthetic appearance of the skin with pigmentation disorders. The most popular methods of reducing discoloration include topical depigmenting agents, cosmetology and aesthetic dermatology treatments combined with photoprotection, which is significantly complemented by antioxidants, and protecting the skin against free radicals and the negative effects of the sun. The available methods of therapy provide a wide spectrum of action in removing or reducing hyperpigmentation, including melasma, as well as post\-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or lentigines. The effectiveness of treatment is influenced, among others, by proper analysis of the skin condition and individually planned therapy, which often requires a combination of several techniques, including chemical, mechanical and physical methods, as well as good cooperation with the patient."]
